Not everything is a straight forward issue in government. Getting things DONE, can be a real issue when you have to deal with multiple agencies and budget constraints.

Once as example, when I was the 1st District Planning Commissioner for the High Desert, I actually had to stop a left turn lane from being built in the middle of nowhere on Route 66. It all came down to an over reaching county employee from down the hill, who applied city street logic to our High Desert region.

Well, after physically walking out into the middle of that road and looking both ways for more than ten miles, a place where there is less than 200 cars a day and thinking to myself putting in a left turn lane here is stupid... I put that employee on notice. Notice to that employee, that there will be NO left turn lanes built on a highway on RT 66 in the middle of nowhere just cause you want to play road crew with our tax payer money!

Measure I is an amazing tool for collecting a half penny tax on gasoline sales that over 80% of voters supported for getting roads done here in the county. Roads like the Ranchero Underpass and the La Mesa Nisqually Interchange, both under construction now. Plus the long anticipated soon to break ground Ranchero Interchange. As your Supervisor, I will work to ensure that tax payers always get value for their dollar and High Desert residents always get their fair share.

Prop. 13 is still one of the most important ballot initiatives passed in the state of California history.

During the previous tax crisis, Howard Jarvis came forward to educate me on the importance of living within a balanced budget as a young mayor. A lesson government still needs today.

With the state of California in serious crisis because of mismanagement, without Proposition 13 your property taxes would be doubled what they are today.

This November, the state, because of mismanagement is on another revenue hunt.

Currently, the state has sent prisoners back to the county and now the county is facing bankruptcy as well. I repeat, GOVERNMENT is NOT OUT OF MONEY, government is mismanaging money.

As your Supervisor, I already know how to function at the county level. I will be able to immediatly take on the state, for the crimes they have committed against the San Bernardino tax payers.
